The Waters of Araluren - Rebirthing Retreat

From AUD $8,950.00
  • Duration: 5 Days (approx.)
  • Location: Watervale, South Australia
  • Product code: PHPQ4T

At the heart of the Clare Valley ranges rises Araluren - the eldest of the Seven Sisters. Araluren carries the spirit of Ngadjuri Grandmother Lore. At her feet, ancient springs emerge from the earth and flow into the creeks of Watervale the place of birth. Along these waterways stand the birthing trees, where generations of mothers returned to give birth.

Late Spring has been the time and place for birthing for the Ngadjuri people for over 40,000 years. Now this timing provides the opportunity for re-birth.

Ngadjuri Elder Aunty Angelena Harradine-Buckskin welcomes a small group of guests to spend five days with her on Ngadjuri Country. Angelena is a psychic-medium skilled in healing inter-generational trauma. Retreat guests will share the secrets of creation, hear the Seven Sisters dreaming story, and feel the energy of re-birth.

Limited to just six guests to ensure time for one on one healing for each guest, this is a rare opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday life and experience one of Australia's oldest living cultures through story, ceremony, conversation and time spent on Country.

Over five days, Aunty Angelena invites guests to slow down, to listen to the dreaming stories of her ancestors, to share meals, to walk together and to experience this remarkable landscape through her deep connection to Country.

Food and hospitality is an important part of the journey. Guests stay in the Watervale Hotel Guesthouse, while all breakfasts, lunches and dinners are prepared and catered by the award winning Watervale Hotel.

The culinary experience is curated by 2022 South Australian Chef of the Year Nicola Palmer, celebrating seasonal produce grown at nearby Penobscot Farm using regenerative, organic and biodynamic farming practices.

Culinary highlights include a guided Penobscot Farm tour followed by a ten-course Penobscot Restaurant Chef's Table degustation with matched Clare Valley wines. Guests will also participate in an interactive native foods cooking experience with Nicola Palmer and Minna Harradine-Buckskin, exploring the connection between food, culture, ceremony, and the belief that the energy and intention of the cook are just as important as the ingredients themselves.

Allergies, dietary intolerances and preferences will be catered for.

Transfers to and from Adelaide as well as transportation around the Clare Ranges during the retreat are included.
